Seijun Suzuki depicts a high school couple as a figure of fierce iconoclasm, "The Madness of Youth" represents a Japanese era flooded with "La Nouvelle Vague" ideals. Tamio Kawachi and Ryoko Nazugori perform the roles of rebellious youth, representing a generation of unruly kids.
Among his clique of amoral friends, Jiro Sugita (Tamio Kawachi), presented a certain aura of angst. He had lost his father to the war and was raised by his mother singlehandedly. Disgusted that his mother was receiving financial support from another man, he leaves home. Lost on the streets with empty pockets, he robs a couple.
